My printer suddenly started to reject my non HP cartridges.  I have not been able to remove the ink cartridge check program.  My printer is quite old and out of warranty.  For my printing needs print quality is not important.  Please help me remove the ink check program.  The ink cartridge has blocked me from the Wi-Fi Internet connection on my printer as well.  I am upset that the ink check program has been placed on my printer without my permission.

I think this should be corrected ASAP.

Hi @redman2698,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I'm sorry to hear about the frustration this issue has caused. Let's work on understanding the situation better to find a solution.

  • Have you recently updated the printer’s firmware or allowed an automatic update? This could enable the cartridge check program.
  • Are you able to access the printer’s control panel or settings via the HP Smart app or a web interface to attempt disabling the ink check?
  • Are you using third-party cartridges that previously worked, or are these new ones that the printer hasn’t recognized before?

You may refill your cartridges or use remanufactured cartridges, but you may run into problems. HP will not guarantee the functionality of those ink cartridges.

There are many cartridges in the market which is refilled and sometimes the chip is not configured to work with the printer. You need to contact the cartridge manufacturer and find out why its not working. Try a different cartridge supplier and check if that works.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
