I bought a new 950xl black ink cartridge from HP to replace an empty one. I installed it (several times), but the printer keeps reading "Printer failure - contact hp". I went through ALL of the troubleshooting steps on line with hp but with no success. HELP!

Hi @Ed75010,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP printer. When you've gone through the troubleshooting steps provided by HP and the problem persists, there are a few additional things you can try.
Recheck Installation:
- Ensure that you've removed any packaging or protective tape from the new ink cartridge.
- Make sure the cartridge is securely and correctly installed in the designated slot.
Restart Printer:
- Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for a few minutes before plugging it back in and turning it on.
Firmware Update:
- Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer on the HP website. Sometimes, outdated firmware can cause compatibility issues.
Clean Electrical Contacts:
- Turn off the printer.
- Remove the new ink cartridge.
- Clean the electrical contacts on the ink cartridge and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth.
- Reinstall the ink cartridge and turn the printer back on.
Try Another Cartridge:
- If you have another compatible ink cartridge, try installing it to see if the issue persists. This can help determine whether the problem is with the cartridge or the printer.
Check for Obstructions:
- Make sure there are no obstructions or debris in the cartridge area. Sometimes, a small piece of paper or debris can cause printing issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
