My 9015e HP does not recognize the new ink cartridge - or the old one either. I have verified I have them in the right way. There is still 20% left in old cartridge so it should work.
Please let me know what to do to override this.
Thanks

Hi @Ckobzee ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e doesn't recognize the ink cartridges, it can be due to various reasons.
Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially override the issue:
Step-by-Step Troubleshooting
Power Cycle the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
Check for Firmware Updates: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. Go to the HP support website, download the latest firmware for the OfficeJet Pro 9015e, and follow the instructions to install it.
Clean the Cartridge Contacts:
- Turn off the printer and open the ink cartridge access door.
- Remove the cartridges and gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridges and the corresponding contacts in the printer with a lint-free cloth or cotton swab lightly moistened with distilled water.
- Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinserting the cartridges.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn on the printer, and with the printer on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet and wait for 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then into the back of the printer.
- Turn on the printer and check if it recognizes the cartridges.
Use Genuine HP Cartridges:
- Make sure you are using genuine HP ink cartridges. Sometimes third-party or refilled cartridges may not be recognized by the printer.
Run Printer Diagnostics:
- Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool for Windows. Download and run the tool from the HP support site to diagnose and fix any printer issues automatically.
Manual Override (If Supported)
HP printers have protective measures to prevent the use of counterfeit cartridges, so there might not be a straightforward override. However, you can try the following general method which might work on some HP printers:
Resetting the Ink Cartridge System:
- With the printer turned on, remove all the ink cartridges.
- Close the cartridge access door and wait for the printer to prompt you to insert the cartridges.
- Open the door and reinsert the cartridges one by one, making sure each is securely in place.
Disabling Cartridge Protection:
- From the printer's control panel, go to the "Setup" menu.
- Navigate to "Preferences" or "Tools" and look for "Cartridge Protection."
- Turn off the cartridge protection setting.
