I cannot find HP Pro 6978 (902) ink cartridges - Are they discontinued?

We have been looking for over a month for both color and black ink cartridges for our HP Pro6978 Printer. It is 902. We have tried every store and they are all out of stock.  Are the ink cartridges being discontinued?

I’d recommend you contact HP Phone Support in your region to purchase ink cartridges.

Follow the instructions below to reach them:

1) Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp

2) Select your product type below.

3) Enter the serial of your device. 

4) Select the country from the drop-down. 

5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences. 

6)Fill the web-form and proceed further.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

We’ve looked online in a lot of places for HP brand 902 or 902xl cartridges. You can find the 902, 902xl, and 906xl black cartridges pretty easily, but not the colors. You might find one or two of the three colors in one size at the same site, but not all three, and no combo packs. All the sites say is “not available” or “backordered” (with no availability date). On Amazon one source did say “discontinued”.

We don’t have a good history with third-party cartridges, so aren’t really willing to go there. Does anyone have an update on the status?
