I have 2 HP printers at 2 different locations that will not print black ink if the original is colored. 8028 AND 9025. This started 3 weeks ago and I have tried updating drivers updating windows, nothing worked

Hi @Sandy425,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like both your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028 and 9025 printers are experiencing similar issues with black ink not printing when the original is colored. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the problem.
Check Ink Levels and Cartridge Status
- Ensure that the black ink cartridges are not empty or low. Replace them if necessary.
- Verify that the cartridges are properly installed and seated correctly.
Perform a Printer Self-Test
- Use the printer’s control panel to print a self-test page or diagnostic page. This can help identify if there’s an issue with the printer’s hardware.
Clean the Printhead
- Most HP printers have a built-in utility to clean the printhead. Access this through the printer’s control panel or HP Smart software.
Check Print Settings
- Ensure that the print settings are set to use black ink. Sometimes the settings might default to color or mixed modes.
- On your computer, go to the print settings and make sure "Black & White" or "Grayscale" is selected if that’s what you want.
Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix common printing issues.
Update Firmware
- Make sure both printers have the latest firmware installed. You can usually update this through the HP Smart app or HP’s website.
Check for Software Conflicts
- Sometimes other software or drivers can cause conflicts. Ensure that no other printer software is causing issues with the print job.
Reset the Printers
- Perform a hard reset on both printers. Turn them off, unplug them for about a minute, then plug them back in and turn them on.
Reinstall Printer Drivers
- Uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers. Sometimes a fresh installation can resolve driver-related issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
