Microsoft Windows 11

I have a HP ENVY 5030 printer. I have installed HP ink recently but the printing is very poor. I changed the black ink about two days ago and since then printing has been very bad. I have cleaned the cartridges and the printer connections but no improvement. I would be grateful for some suggestions.

Hi @Ted139,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing printing issues with your HP ENVY 5030 printer. Poor print quality can be caused by a few different factors, and it's important to troubleshoot the problem to determine the exact cause. Here are some steps you can follow to try and improve the print quality.

  • Check ink levels: Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed and have sufficient ink. You can check the ink levels through the printer software or the control panel on the printer itself. If the ink levels are low, consider replacing the cartridges.
  • Clean the printhead: Over time, the printhead may become clogged with dried ink, which can affect print quality. Most printers have a built-in printhead cleaning utility that you can access through the printer software or the control panel. Run the cleaning process to clear any clogs or blockages.
  • Print a test page: Printing a test page can help identify specific print quality issues. Refer to the printer's user manual or the manufacturer's website for instructions on how to print a test page. Compare the results with the sample provided to determine if the problem lies with the printer or the print settings.
  • Adjust print settings: Check the print settings on your computer to ensure they are appropriate for the type of document or image you're printing. For example, if you're printing a high-resolution photo, select the "Best" or "High Quality" print setting to ensure optimal results. Experiment with different settings to see if it improves the print quality.
  • Use the correct paper type: Make sure you're using the appropriate type of paper for your print job. Some printers have settings that can be adjusted based on the paper type, such as plain paper, photo paper, or envelopes. Selecting the correct paper type can help optimize print quality.
  • Update printer drivers: Visit the HP website and check for any available printer driver updates for your specific model. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause printing issues, so updating them can potentially resolve the problem.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
