I have a HP OfficeJet 6960 printer that gives me an error that says "one or more cartridges are missing or damaged". I have tried all of the procedures that are listed on your website But I still get the same message. I have replaced all of the ink cartridges but still get the same message. Is there any solution for this problem?

Hi @mswsmail,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When your HP OfficeJet 6960 displays an error message like "one or more cartridges are missing or damaged" even after replacing the cartridges, it can be frustrating. Here are some additional troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue:
1. Verify Cartridge Installation
Turn Off the Printer:
- Power off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
Check Cartridge Installation:
- Open the printer access door to access the cartridges.
- Ensure that each cartridge is installed correctly. The cartridges should click into place firmly.
Reinstall Cartridges:
- Remove each cartridge and reinstall them, making sure they are properly seated.
2. Clean Cartridge Contacts
Remove Cartridges:
- Remove the ink cartridges from the printer.
Clean Contacts:
- Use a lint-free cloth or cotton swab lightly dampened with distilled water to clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridges and the corresponding contacts inside the printer.
- Allow everything to dry completely before reinserting the cartridges.
3. Check for Protective Tape
- Verify Cartridge Condition:
- Ensure that any protective tape or plastic covering has been removed from the new cartridges before installation.
4. Reset the Printer
Power Off and Unplug:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
Power On:
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
5. Check Firmware Updates
- Update Firmware:
- Make sure the printer’s firmware is up-to-date. You can check for updates via the HP Support website or through the HP Smart app.
6. Perform a Printer Diagnostic
- Access Diagnostics:
- Use the printer’s control panel to access any diagnostic tools or maintenance options.
- Perform a printhead alignment or cleaning if available.
7. Verify Cartridge Compatibility
- Check Compatibility:
- Ensure that the cartridges you are using are compatible with your HP OfficeJet 6960. HP recommends using genuine HP cartridges for best performance.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
