I have a HP OfficeJet 8710 It says "Supply System Problem.

I've tried many times to follow the instrution as '' Remove USB cable, if present. Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge. Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.'' but it is still shown the same error.

Hi @Sea_7-Seas,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting the "Supply System Problem" error on your HP OfficeJet 8710, which typically indicates an issue with the printer's ink supply system. Here are a few additional steps you can try to resolve this problem:

1. Check the Ink Cartridges

  • Reinstall Ink Cartridges: Open the printer cover and carefully remove each ink cartridge. Check for any protective tape or debris, then reinsert the cartridges.
  • Inspect for Damage: Ensure the cartridges and their contacts are not damaged or dirty. Wipe the contacts with a lint-free cloth if necessary.
  • Replace Ink Cartridges: If you suspect any of the cartridges are defective, try replacing them with new ones.

2. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can download the latest firmware from the HP support website.

3. Reset the Printer

  • Factory Reset: Perform a factory reset on the printer. Note that this will reset all settings to default.
    • Go to the printer's control panel.
    • Navigate to "Settings" > "Printer Maintenance" > "Restore" > "Restore Factory Defaults."

4. Check for Blockages

  • Open the printer and look for any paper jams or debris that might be obstructing the ink supply system.

5. Clean the Printhead

  • Use the printer’s software or the control panel to run a printhead cleaning cycle.

Detailed Steps for a Factory Reset:

Turn on the Printer:

  • Ensure the printer is powered on.

Access Settings:

  • From the home screen on the printer’s display, touch or swipe down to open the dashboard.
  • Select "Setup" (represented by a gear icon).

Navigate to Printer Maintenance:

  • Choose "Printer Maintenance" or "Service" from the setup menu.

Restore Factory Defaults:

  • Select "Restore" or "Restore Defaults."
  • Confirm the selection to reset the printer to its factory settings.

Reconfigure the Printer:

  • After the reset, you’ll need to set up your printer again, including reconfiguring the network settings if you use it wirelessly.
