Hi @Stitch77
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're having an issue with your HP Smart Tank 6001 not printing black ink, even after cleaning the printheads and ensuring there’s ink in the tank. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve this:
1. Check the Ink Levels
- Even though you've mentioned the ink is there, double-check the black ink level. Sometimes the ink may appear full but could be improperly distributed, or the ink cartridge may not be properly seated.
- If the black ink tank is low or not registering correctly, try replacing it with a new cartridge.
2. Run a Printhead Cleaning (Again)
- You've already cleaned the printheads, but it’s possible the cleaning wasn’t fully effective. Try running the cleaning cycle again through the printer’s menu:
- From the Printer Screen: Go to the settings and look for Maintenance or Printer Tools, and select Clean Printheads.
- Multiple Cleanings: Sometimes it takes a few cycles to clear any blockages.
3. Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page
- Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page (or Test Print) to see if there’s any issue with the printheads.
- This will help you check if the black printhead is working and identify if the problem is with the printhead, ink, or another component.
- If the black ink still isn’t printing, this could suggest an issue with the printhead itself.
4. Check for Clogged Nozzles
- Manual Cleaning: If the automated cleaning doesn’t work, you can carefully clean the printhead nozzles manually with a soft cloth or cotton swab soaked in warm water or alcohol.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
