HP Smart Tank 6001 All-in-One

Hello, 

Recently my printer has stopped printing color correctly. Grey prints as a blush pink color. Blue prints as a muted purple. I have run multiple cleaning and alignment cycles and there has been no improvement. There is not an option for "deep clean" as many other's have mentioned in similar questions. It is ink tanks, not cartridges so there is no misalignment with the cartridge. All ink tanks are almost completely full. I am unsure what to do next. The printer is up to date on software and firmware updates.

It seems that your HP Smart Tank 6000 series printer is experiencing issues with color printing, specifically with blue and grey colors. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Check Ink Levels and Quality:

  • Ensure that the ink tanks are filled with genuine HP ink and that there are no foreign substances mixed into the tanks. Sometimes, non-HP ink can cause color printing issues.

Clean Printhead Manually:

  • Since manual or deep cleaning options might not be available through software, you can carefully follow the steps to manually clean the printhead. This involves taking the printhead out and cleaning it using a lint-free cloth and distilled water.

Print Quality Diagnostic Page:

  • Print diagnostics page via the printer settings to identify which colors are misprinting. This can help pinpoint the issue.

Firmware Update:

  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer. Sometimes updating the firmware fixes the printing issues.
