I have an Officejet 5255 and Windows 10 and use Microsoft and all of a sudden it won't print. Says my ink levels are good. I've tried everything. Can't get the diagnostic tool to work. Been all over HP and downloaded everything I was told to and still get a blank page when I print work. Downloaded the HP Smart app and installed it but it doesn't help. Seems like I just go in circles

Hi @pam65 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you've tried several troubleshooting steps, but the issue persists. Since your HP OfficeJet 5255 won't print in color or black despite showing good ink levels, let's take a structured approach to fix the problem.
Here are some additional steps you can try:
1. Reset the Printer
- Turn off your printer, disconnect the power cord, and wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on. Sometimes, a power reset can resolve internal glitches.
2. Check for Software Conflicts
- Since you've installed the HP Smart app, it's important to ensure there are no conflicting drivers or software. You can remove the current printer drivers and reinstall them.
- Open Control Panel → Devices and Printers → Right-click on your printer → Remove device.
- Download the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool here and let it check for issues.
- After removing the printer, go to HP Support and download the latest full driver package for the HP OfficeJet 5255. Reinstall the printer following the on-screen instructions.
3. Run a Printhead Cleaning Cycle
- Sometimes, the printhead gets clogged even if the ink levels are good.
- On the printer control panel, go to Setup → Printer Maintenance → Clean Printhead.
- Run this several times if necessary to clear any clogs.
4. Test Print
- Try printing a test page directly from the printer’s settings:
- On the printer control panel, go to Setup → Reports → Print Quality Report.
5. Check Printer Settings
- Ensure that the printer is set to color printing or black and white (depending on what you're printing).
- Go to Devices and Printers in the Control Panel, right-click your printer, and choose Printing Preferences. Make sure it’s not set to “Grayscale” unless that’s your intention.
6. Update Windows
- Make sure your Windows 10 system is fully updated. Sometimes outdated systems can conflict with printer drivers.
7. Firmware Update
- Check for a firmware update for the printer through the HP Smart app or the HP website.
8. Check for Ink Blockages
- Even though ink levels appear normal, there could be a blockage or a printhead issue. If cleaning the printhead didn’t help, you may want to try removing and reseating the ink cartridges or even replacing them with new ones to rule out cartridge issues.

I hope this helps.
