I have moved to Europe from the US and I cannot find 902 cartridges here. I bought 903 cartridges which are in warranty, but the printer will not accept them.

Welcome to HP Support Community!  

  

We need to perform a regional reset on the printer to resolve this issue.  

  

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.  

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.  

 

To access your private messages, simply click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Support Community profile, next to your profile name.

To perform a printer region reset you need to meet the following conditions: 

  

1. You need to have the printer full feature software installed on your computer. 

2. You need to have all the cartridges either from the region/country from where the printer was purchased originally or the new region/country to which you want to reset it to. 

3. Make sure HP Smart App is installed too.

My printer is now working with Kuroi_Kenshi's help

 

I needed to:

 

1) Connect the printer via USB (usually you need it in case your internet connection is not strong or may have downtime while performing it. You can skip it and perform the process under wifi as well) 

2) install HP Smart

 

--- The following steps did not work for me, and I had to do alternate steps (below) ---

 

3) Launch HP Smart and click the product ink levels to open the Supported Cartridges window. 

4) Clicking ink levels in HP Smart 

5) Hold down the CTRL and SHIFT keys (Cmd + Space in MAC) and then right-click on the empty area to the right of the ink levels. 

6)Clicking to the right of the ink levels 

7) The Set New Regions window opens. 

 

--- The below steps are what worked for me on HP Smart on windows 11 ---

3) HP Smart, Click the gear icon on the Home screen, then click "About."

4) Right-click on the HP Smart logo while holding down Ctrl + Shift.

5) Screenshot the codes in the "Set New Region" page to send support

I then sent a screenshot of the codes and was given new codes to input, which reset the region of my printer.
