I printed a page just fine, but when I went to print another page my printer said my 65 XL tri-color cartridge was faulty. I inserted a new 65 tri-color cartridge, the light went out, but there is no Magenta color printing. I did all the maintenance procedures and ran the Print Diagnostic . Still no Magenta. All the other colors look great. The 65 cartridge says 2024/07/23. The previous 65XL says 2023/11/03 and it was just installed last month, seriously? I can't cut a break here. I really don't print very often, but when I do, it is usually something I can't wait and print the next day at work. Yes I ran the "Clean Cartridges" several times with the second cartridge (65), Yes I turned printer off and unplugged the printer, And Yes I cleaned the sensors on the first cartridge(65XL) and retried it several times and it still said faulty cartridge.

Hi @DeeBoss,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It's frustrating when you encounter issues with your printer cartridges. Here are some additional troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the Magenta color printing problem.
- Check the Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the new 65 tri-color cartridge is properly installed. Remove the cartridge and reinsert it, making sure it clicks securely into place. Check for any protective tapes or seals that may still be on the cartridge.
- Print a Test Page: Print a test page to see if the issue persists. This will help you identify if the problem is with the cartridge or the printer itself.
- Check Ink Levels: Confirm that the Magenta ink level is sufficient in the new 65 tri-color cartridge. Sometimes, cartridges may have uneven ink distribution, and the Magenta color might be low.
- Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.
- Try Another Cartridge: If possible, try another 65 tri-color cartridge to see if the issue persists. It's rare, but occasionally a new cartridge may also have defects.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
