HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer

I just replaced all my toner cartridges (yes, they're HPs), and colors are wrong.

I first noticed when attempting to highlight text with yellow, that the highlight was lime green.  I then tried highlighting text with red, yellow, and blue, and it appeared that blue was "over-balanced" - that is, red appeared to be purplish, and (as mentioned) yellow appeared greenish.

Is there a way to calibrate or re-determine these color mixes?  Are clogged heads/jets a possible cause?

Thanks in advance for any insight, advice, etc.

Hi @rooo,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issue you're experiencing with your HP Officejet Pro 8610 printer likely relates to a combination of factors, including color calibration, clogged print heads, or low-quality print settings. Here are some steps you can follow to address the problem.

Check Print Quality Settings:

  • Make sure you've selected the appropriate print quality settings in the printer driver. Using lower quality settings may result in color discrepancies.

Color Calibration:

  • HP printers often have a color calibration feature in their settings. Check your printer's manual or control panel menu for a color calibration option. Run the calibration process to adjust the color output.

Clean Print Heads:

  • Clogged or misaligned print heads can cause color issues. Most HP printers have a utility for cleaning print heads. You can usually access this through the printer's control panel menu or the HP printer software on your computer. Follow the instructions to clean the print heads.

Alignment Test:

  • Some printers offer a print head alignment test. Running this test can help ensure that the print heads are correctly aligned, which can affect color accuracy.

Use Genuine HP Cartridges:

  • Make sure you're using genuine HP ink cartridges. Third-party or refilled cartridges can sometimes cause color problems.

Update Firmware and Drivers:

  • Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware and drivers installed. Sometimes, updating these components can resolve printing issues.

Paper Quality and Type:

  • The type and quality of paper you use can also affect color output. Make sure you're using the recommended paper type for your printer, and that it's not damaged or too old.

Replace Cartridges if Necessary:

  • While you mentioned that you've already replaced the cartridges, it's possible that one of them is faulty or expired. Try replacing the cartridges again if the problem persists.

Reset Printer to Default Settings:

  • If none of the above steps work, you can try resetting your printer to its default settings. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to do this.

If you've tried all of these steps and are still experiencing color issues, it's possible that there may be a hardware problem with your printer, such as a malfunctioning color sensor or a more serious internal issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
