checking the estimated ink levels and they seem fine since i don't print very often.  i did all of the cleaning options within the software as well as cartridge alignment (which wasn't successful because the ink doesn't print dark enough when scanning the page).  the printer is connected to my phone through my wireless network as well as my Macbook Pro.

Hi @craigLa,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Envy 6455e printer is consistently producing prints that appear faded or low on ink, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

Check Ink Levels:

  • Most HP printers provide an option to check ink levels. Check the printer's display screen or access the printer software on your computer to see if the ink levels are indeed low. If they are, you may need to replace the ink cartridges.

Replace Ink Cartridges:

  • If the ink levels are low or if you've been using the same cartridges for a long time, consider replacing them with new, genuine HP ink cartridges. Third-party or refilled cartridges may not provide the same print quality.

Printer Maintenance:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning the printhead. Consult your printer's user manual or HP's official website for specific instructions on how to do this.

Print Quality Settings:

  • Adjust the print quality settings in your printer's software. Sometimes, setting the print quality to a higher mode (such as "Best" or "High Quality") can improve the output.

Paper Type and Quality:

  • Ensure you're using the correct type of paper for your printer. Using low-quality or incompatible paper can affect print quality. Check the paper settings in your printer's software to match the paper type you're using.

Alignment and Calibration:

  • Some printers have alignment and calibration options to optimize print quality. Consult your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform these tasks.

Firmware Update:

  • Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer. Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve printing issues.

Driver Update:

  • Ensure that you have the latest printer driver installed on your computer. You can usually download the latest drivers from HP's official website.

Use Genuine HP Supplies:

  • Always use genuine HP ink cartridges and paper for the best results. Non-genuine or counterfeit supplies may lead to printing problems.

Remember that the lifespan of ink cartridges can vary depending on your usage and the type of documents you print. If you print a lot of high-quality images or graphics, you may go through ink cartridges more quickly. Regular maintenance and using genuine supplies can help prolong the life of your printer and maintain print quality.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
