I'm printing a photo on my HP Office Jet Pro 8025e and it's coming up with a blue tint.  Why?  (I just changed out my black ink cartridge.)

@Jeff98052, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

If your photo prints are showing a blue tint on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e after replacing the black ink cartridge, here are a few steps to help resolve the issue:

Check Ink Levels

Even though you replaced the black cartridge, ensure all other cartridges (especially magenta and yellow) have sufficient ink. A low or clogged cartridge can cause color imbalance.

  • Go to HP Smart app or printer control panel > Ink Levels.

Run Printhead Cleaning

Ink residue or air bubbles can cause color distortion. Run a cleaning cycle:

On the printer:
Settings > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead

Or via HP Smart app:
Printer Settings > Tools > Clean Printhead

Print a Diagnostic Page

This helps identify which color is misbehaving.

  • On the printer:
Settings > Reports > Print Quality Report

Check if black is printing correctly and if any color blocks are missing or faded.

Check Paper Type Settings

Incorrect paper type can affect color output.

  • When printing, ensure the paper type matches the actual paper (e.g., Photo Paper, Matte, Glossy).
  • In the print dialog, go to Printer Properties > Paper Type and select the correct one.

Update Printer Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause print quality issues.

Reinstall Printer Driver

Corrupted drivers can affect color rendering.

  • Uninstall the printer from Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners
  • Reinstall using the latest driver from: Official HP® Support

Try a Different Photo App

Sometimes, the app used to print (e.g., Photos, Paint, etc.) may apply color filters. Try printing from another app like HP Smart or Adobe Photoshop Express.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!

It worked.  Thanks.  It turned out to be low ink levels in the other cartridges.
