I need help with the oobe reset for my 4140 HP printer. I received this printer from my child's home school and I believe the ink that they provided is not the setup ink because I'm coming across the issue when I'm trying to set up the printer.

Hi @Quetta423,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're encountering issues with setting up your HP printer due to the ink cartridges not being recognized as setup ink. Performing an Out of Box Experience (OOBE) reset can often resolve such issues. Here's a general guide on how to perform an OOBE reset on an HP printer.
- Turn off the printer: Make sure the printer is turned off.
- Unplug the power cord: Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer. Wait for about 60 seconds to ensure all power is drained from the printer.
- Plug in the power cord: Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
- Turn on the printer: Turn on the printer by pressing the power button.
- Press and hold specific buttons (if applicable): Depending on your printer model, you might need to press and hold specific buttons during startup to initiate the reset process. Refer to your printer's manual or HP's support website for the exact buttons to press.
- Follow on-screen prompts: Once the reset process begins, follow any on-screen prompts to complete the reset. This may involve selecting language, country/region, etc.
- Install ink cartridges: After the reset is complete, the printer will likely prompt you to install ink cartridges. Make sure to install the correct cartridges for your printer model. If you have setup ink cartridges provided by HP, use those.
- Complete setup: Follow any remaining setup instructions on the printer's display or the accompanying setup guide.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
