Hi @Annie0111
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you’re dealing with a black ink printing issue, where the printer is printing entirely in black despite using a new cartridge. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you resolve the issue:
1. Check the Ink Cartridge Installation
- Ensure Proper Installation: Double-check that the new black cartridge is seated correctly. Open the printer and gently press down on the cartridge until it clicks into place.
- Remove Protective Tape: If the new cartridge is fresh, ensure that any protective plastic tape or seals have been removed from the new black ink cartridge. This tape can prevent the ink from flowing properly.
2. Perform a Printer Reset
- Power Cycle: Turn off your printer, wait for about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on. This can help the printer reset and may resolve any errors related to the new cartridge.
3. Run Printer Diagnostics
- Print a Diagnostic or Test Page:
- On the printer's control panel, navigate to Settings > Printer Maintenance and select Print Quality Diagnostic or Print Test Page.
- This will help check the ink flow and whether the black ink is being correctly distributed.
- Check for Ink Nozzle Clogs: If you see issues like streaks or smudges on the test page, it could be a clogged nozzle issue.
4. Clean the Printhead
If there’s still an issue with the black ink printing, you may need to clean the printhead to ensure the ink flows properly:
- From the Printer’s Control Panel:
- Navigate to Settings > Printer Maintenance or Tools.
- Select Clean Printhead. This will clean the printhead and can often resolve issues with ink not being dispensed properly.
- Multiple Cleanings: Sometimes, running the cleaning process more than once may be necessary, especially if the nozzles are severely clogged.
