Hi @Ciindyy1124

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining—and I’m really sorry you’re dealing with this. When an ink cartridge is inserted backwards in the HP DeskJet 2855e, it can wedge tightly into the carriage and feel impossible to remove.

Let’s walk through a safe, step-by-step recovery to help you free it without damaging the printer.

1. Power Down Completely

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug it from the wall to prevent any carriage movement while you're working.

2. Open the Cartridge Access Door

  • Lift the top/front cover to expose the cartridge carriage.
  • Wait for the carriage to settle if it was moving before power-off.

3. Inspect the Cartridge Position

  • Look closely at how the cartridge is stuck:
    • Is it tilted, jammed sideways, or fully inserted in reverse?
  • Do not pull forcefully—this can damage the carriage or slot.

4. Apply Gentle Pressure

  • Hold the cartridge firmly and gently wiggle it side to side.
  • If it’s misaligned, this motion can help free it from the locking tabs.

5. Use a Plastic Tool (Optional)

  • If your fingers can’t reach:
    • Use a plastic card (like a credit card) to gently nudge the cartridge from underneath or the side.
    • Avoid metal tools to prevent scratching or electrical damage.

6. Inspect for Damage

Once removed:

  • Check the cartridge for broken tabs or ink residue.
  • Inspect the slot for debris or bent plastic.

If the cartridge is damaged, it may need to be replaced before reinstalling correctly.

You’ve already taken the right first step by reaching out. Let’s get your printer back in working order without any added stress.
