hi, when taking out the ink that had to be replaced, I had difficulty taking it out. Then when I’m putting in the new ink, it won’t fit in at all. It seems to have a piece missing off of it now. But I can’t locate it.

@Maura13, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding ink cartridge!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If you've broken a piece off the ink cartridge or the cartridge holder in your HP printer, here are some steps you can follow to address the issue:
Inspect the Cartridge and Cartridge Holder:
- Examine the cartridge to determine what part is missing or broken. Compare it with the new cartridge to identify the piece that may be missing.
- Check inside the printer where the cartridge was initially seated to see if the broken piece is lodged there.
Remove Any Debris:
- Carefully check the cartridge holder for any debris or broken pieces that might be obstructing the installation of the new cartridge.
- Use a flashlight if necessary to help you locate any small pieces.
Clean the Cartridge Area:
- Sometimes, debris or dried ink can hinder the installation of cartridges. Clean the area gently using a lint-free cloth and possibly some distilled water to ensure there isn’t any obstruction.
Examine the Cartridge Holder:
- If the cartridge holder itself is damaged, it may prevent proper installation of the cartridge. Check for any visible damage on the holder.
Try Reinstalling:
- If you find any broken piece, remove it and attempt to reinstall the new cartridge again.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
