Hi @Nannymt

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your HP printer is locked due to an expired or canceled HP Instant Ink subscription, you will need to replace the Instant Ink cartridges with regular HP cartridges purchased separately. Here's what you can do to resolve the issue:

Remove Instant Ink Cartridges: Safely remove the Instant Ink cartridges from your printer. These cartridges are specific to the subscription program and won't work once the subscription is canceled.

Purchase Standard Ink Cartridges: Buy standard HP ink cartridges that are compatible with your printer model. Ensure they are genuine HP cartridges for optimal compatibility and print quality.

Install Standard Cartridges: Insert the new standard cartridges into your printer. Your printer will recognize these cartridges as non-Instant Ink and should operate without restrictions.

Restart the Printer: If the printer remains locked after installing standard cartridges, power it off and then turn it back on to reset the system.

Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date by visiting HP's support website and searching for your specific printer model. Install any available updates that might address this kind of issue.
