I was given this printer and don't want to use the Insta Ink. How do I make it work?

Hello a friend moved away and left me her HP ENVY PHOTO 6255. It is saying cartridge cannot be used until printer is enrolled in insta print, but I don't want to enroll. Is this mandatory? Is it the only way these printers work?

I'd like to help!

If you do not wish to enroll, it is not mandatory.

And here's what you need to know & do:

If you have an instant ink cartridge on your printer, remove it and discard that, you can only use regular cartridges on your printer once you cancel the program.

That said, if you have trouble using regular cartridges, I recommend you turn off the web service using the steps from this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04808536

when done successfully, check if it works fine.
