The cartridges do not all need to be replaced at the same time, but...  the color cartridges will generally all run out about the same time.  When a cartridge is changed it uses some ink from all the colors (and black) to remove air from the "plumbing".  If a cartridge is very low and a different cartridge is replaced the servicing routine may be enough to deplete the second cartridge.

 

For this reason, I would suggest checking the ink levels on all the cartridges and replacing any that are nearly depleted all at once rather than replacing them individually.
