I'm having trouble with my HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2520 hc. I just replaced the black ink cartridge with a new one, but the printer is showing an 'incompatible ink cartridge' error. The message also says, 'the cartridge listed are not intended for use in this printer as it is currently configured.' When I check the printer's status, the blank ink ID shows up as 0000000000000000.

I would appreciate any advice on how to get the printer to recognize this cartridge. Is there something I'm missing, or could the cartridge itself be defective?

@Jackson1448, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Incompatible Cartridge Error on HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2520 hc!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

The 'incompatible ink cartridge' error occurs when the printer does not recognize the installed cartridge. This can happen due to several reasons such as incorrect installation or using a cartridge that is not compatible with your printer model. Below are steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

Steps to Resolve:

Check Cartridge Compatibility:

  • Ensure that the cartridge you have installed is compatible with the HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2520 hc printer. You can verify this by checking the cartridge packaging or consulting HP's online resources for the correct cartridge model.

Reinstall the Cartridge:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Carefully remove the ink cartridge. Verify that there is no protective tape or any other covering on the nozzle and contacts.
  • Reinsert the cartridge firmly into its slot and ensure it is seated correctly.
  • Close the access door, plug the printer back in, and turn it on.

Reset the Printer:

  • Resetting the printer might help clear the error.
  • Turn off the printer, unplug the power cord from the printer and wall outlet, wait for a minute, then plug it back in and turn on the printer.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
