Hello, I bought a set of compatible replacement cartridges from eBay. Turns out these are 'Instant Ink' cartridges and my printer is not registered, and having tried to register it turns out not compatible with Instant Ink. Seems a waste to throw the cartridges away. The purchase itself is past any return date. Is there any way to bypass the "incompatible ink cartridge" error message? Thanks in advance for any help! Kev.

Hi @vekter303,

I'd like to help!

I understand you are unable to use the cartridges that you purchased online.

HP instant ink cartridges are tagged with the printer and cannot be used on other printers, the cartridges will not work on any other printer.

The instant ink cartridges are shipped as a part of the service and are not sold separately.

I'd recommend you replace the instant ink cartridges with regular HP ink cartridges.

You can purchase ink cartridges from HP Store

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi,

Thanks for your response, I would love to say that it is accepted as a solution, but I don't feel that is true.

While it's unfortunate that they have been sold online, with or without the sellers knowledge that they are unusable. They are unusable due to an obstacle set by HP. The cartridges fit in the printer, they have the exact same footprint as any other i would buy. This is an obstacle of the closed system that HP are imposing. This has been a complete waste of money and resources.

That said, i appreciate you taking the time to respond.
