I have a HP Deskjet 2549 All-in-One Printer: Product: E1E94B.

I purchased HP 301 XL ink cartridges both black and colour removed the tape and inserted them into the printer.

Yet I still cannot print as I am receiving the error below:

"Incompatible Ink Cartridges

-- -- Black

The cartridges listed above are not intended for use in this printer as it is currently configured.

Please refer to Printer Help.

The cartridges I purchased are compatible. HP 301 XL. Any advice?

Thanks in advance.

It's because they are not hp branded cartridges. I'm having the same issue, even though I turned off the 'safety feature' that allows any compatible cartridge to be used. Mine seems to sometimes print, sometimes not, and hp have emailed me saying that I will lose access to hp+ (which will be a problem as everything uses the app to print). I cannot afford the hp branded ones, and now regretting buying a hp printer.

Search online for how to 'turn off cartridge protection' for your printer, as this seems to have sort of worked for me, even if sporadically (fairly certain any links would get blocked).
