I have a HP envy 5530 and it appears the black one of the two 301 ink cartridges is saying it’s incompatible with the printer. I have tried troubleshooting and following all the recommendations on here, Testing each cartridge in single use mode, switching it off for 10 minutes but I’m unable to clean the copper head as recommended as I don’t keep distilled water in the house!!! I mean.
I’ve never experienced this before and have to say what a rigmarole for trying to get a cartridge to work.
I have exhausted all options and feel i am at a complete loss. My son really needed some printing for an exam and the ink cartridges cost a fortune for me with my circumstances. What now?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
As you have already tried the troubleshooting steps, this could be a hardware issue with the black cartridge and may need replacement.
I have sent you a private message with the required information to talk to HP Support.
In the meantime, you may print in black using the color cartridge installed also(single cartridge mode).
