Hi @mironde,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're getting an "Incompatible Print Cartridge" error message while using HP cartridges, it’s important to troubleshoot this issue to ensure you can continue printing without problems. Here are steps to help resolve this issue:

1. Check Cartridge Compatibility

Verify Cartridge Model:

  • Make sure that the cartridges you are using are compatible with your specific printer model. Refer to your printer’s manual or HP’s official website for the list of compatible cartridges.

Check Cartridge Packaging:

  • Confirm that the cartridges are genuine HP products and not counterfeit or refilled cartridges.

2. Inspect the Cartridges

Remove and Reinstall Cartridges:

  • Power off the printer.
  • Open the printer’s access door to reach the cartridges.
  • Remove the cartridges and check for any protective tape or packaging that might still be attached.
  • Reinsert the cartridges firmly into their respective slots, ensuring they are properly seated.

Clean Cartridge Contacts:

  • Use a lint-free cloth or a cotton swab lightly moistened with water to gently clean the copper contacts on the cartridges and the corresponding contacts inside the printer.

Check for Damage:

  • Inspect the cartridges for any visible signs of damage. If the cartridges appear damaged, consider replacing them.

3. Update Printer Firmware

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Go to the HP Support website and search for firmware updates for your printer model.
  • Follow the instructions to download and install any available updates.

Use HP Smart App:

  • If you have the HP Smart app installed, use it to check for and install firmware updates.

4. Reset the Printer

  1. Perform a Hard Reset:
    • Power off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
    • Wait for about 60 seconds.
    • Plug the printer back in and power it on.
    • Try printing again to see if the issue persists.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
