@Stevenh87, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Check the Printer Queue
- Open the Print Queue window on your computer by going to Start > Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Click on your HP Color Laser MFP 178nw printer and select Open Queue.
- Look for any print jobs that may be paused or in error. Clear any pending jobs if they seem stuck.
- Try printing a small test document (1 or 2 pages) and see if the issue persists.
Restart the Printer and Computer
- Turn off the printer, wait for about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on. This can help reset the printer’s internal settings.
- Restart your computer to ensure there are no software-related issues or conflicts affecting printing.
Check Printer Settings
- Ensure that you are printing in the correct paper size and page range (e.g., "All pages" instead of "Current page" or "Pages 1-2").
- Check if the printer is set to print double-sided (duplex printing). If the printer is having trouble with this feature, try disabling it and print again.
Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers
Outdated or corrupted printer drivers can cause printing problems.
- Update drivers:
- Go to the HP website (https://support.hp.com) and search for the latest drivers for your HP Color Laser MFP 178nw printer.
- Download and install the latest version of the driver that is compatible with Windows 11.
- If updating doesn’t work, try reinstalling the printer driver:
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on the printer and select Remove device.
- Reboot the computer.
- Reinstall the printer from Printers & Scanners.
Check for Printer Firmware Updates
- Sometimes, the printer's firmware might need an update. Check the HP website for any available updates and instructions on how to update your printer's firmware.
Check for Network Issues
If the printer is connected over a network (Wi-Fi or Ethernet), network problems might cause printing issues.
- Reboot your router to ensure there are no network interruptions.
- Check the printer’s connection status to ensure it's connected properly to your network.
I hope these steps help resolve the issue
