Hi @Regina07
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're dealing with a color misalignment issue, where the colors are either being mixed up or not printing correctly on your HP Envy 4520. Here are a few steps you can try to fix the issue:
1. Check Ink Cartridges
- Ensure all cartridges are installed properly: Remove the color cartridges (cyan, magenta, yellow) and then reinsert them. Make sure they're seated correctly.
- Check the expiration date: If the ink cartridges are old or expired, this can sometimes cause printing issues, even if they're not completely empty.
2. Clean the Printhead
Over time, printheads can become clogged, especially with color cartridges.
- Go to the HP Printer Software on your computer or use the printer's built-in menu (via the display screen) and look for an option to clean the printhead.
- Follow the instructions for cleaning, which may involve running a "deep cleaning" cycle if the issue persists after a standard cleaning.
3. Align the Printer
Misalignment of the cartridges can cause issues with color printing.
- In the printer settings (either from the control panel on the printer or through the HP software), look for a “Print Alignment” or "Align Cartridges" option.
- Perform the alignment and print the alignment page. Follow the on-screen instructions for calibration.
4. Check for Software or Driver Issues
Ensure that your printer's driver is up to date, as outdated drivers can sometimes cause printing issues. You can download the latest driver from HP's official website:
- HP Envy 4520 Drivers
5. Test the Ink Cartridges in Another Printer (if possible)
If you have access to another printer, try swapping out the ink cartridges to see if the problem persists. This can help confirm whether the issue is with the cartridges themselves or with the printer.
6. Print a Diagnostic Page
- Most HP printers allow you to print a diagnostic page directly from the printer's control panel. This can help identify if the issue is with the printhead, cartridges, or other hardware components.
- To print a diagnostic page: From the printer's main menu, go to Setup > Tools > Printer Reports > Print Quality Report or similar options depending on your model.
7. Check for Clogged Nozzles
If you’re still getting incorrect colors like a greenish magenta, it's possible the nozzle for the magenta ink is clogged. Try running the deep cleaning cycle (usually in the printer settings or software). This may clear the issue if the nozzle is partially blocked.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
