The Cyan cartridge was empty and needed to be replaced. I replaced with a new HP cartridge & received an error message the cartridge was damaged and needed to be replaced. I replaced the cartridge with another new HP Cyan cartridge and received the same error message. 2 brand new cartridges should not be bad and need to be replaced. Has anyone else seen this problem?

Hi @PEP77,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Officejet Pro 8620 printer. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the cartridge error:
- b Sometimes, dust or debris can interfere with the cartridge contacts. Turn off the printer, remove the Cyan cartridge, and gently wipe the contacts with a lint-free cloth or cotton swab dampened with distilled water. Allow it to dry completely, then reinsert the cartridge and turn the printer back on.
- Update Printer Firmware: Ensure your printer has the latest firmware installed. Firmware updates can sometimes resolve compatibility issues with new cartridges. You can usually check for updates through the printer's control panel or HP's support website. Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Reset the Printer: Power cycle the printer by turning it off, unplugging it from the power source, and waiting for about 60 seconds. Then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Check Cartridge Protection Tab: Some HP cartridges have a protective tab that needs to be removed before use. Ensure that this tab has been properly removed from the new cartridges.
- Try a Different Cartridge: If possible, try inserting a different Cyan cartridge (if available) to see if the problem persists. This can help determine if the issue lies with the cartridges themselves or the printer.
