HP Deskjet 4155e printer not reading any ink cartridges and showing error light

 

I've tried these resolutions several times...

  • Make sure the ink cartridges are compatible with the printer.
  • Reseat one or both ink cartridges.
  • Clean the ink cartridge contacts.
  • Restart the printer.
  • Replace one or both cartridges if needed.
  • Reinstalled Driver.

Still the error persists, any help or advice would be wonderful as my printer is out of warranty which seems to limit support.

I understand the concern. Since the DeskJet 4155e is not recognizing any cartridges even after you have carefully tried the standard steps, let’s go through recommended process to narrow this down further.

 

Steps to follow:

 

Verify Cartridge Authenticity and Type 
The DeskJet 4155e series supports HP 67 or HP 67XL cartridges. 

Please confirm that the cartridges installed are genuine HP supplies. 

You can check this on the cartridge packaging or through the HP App.

 

Run Diagnose & Fix in HP App 
Open the HP App on your computer or mobile device. 

Select your printer, then go to Printer SettingsAdvanced SettingsDiagnose & Fix

Allow the tool to run and apply any automatic corrections.

 

Update Printer Firmware 
Outdated firmware can sometimes prevent cartridges from being recognized. In the HP App, go to Printer SettingsAdvanced SettingsFirmware Update. Install any available updates.

Reset the Printer 
With the printer powered on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and from the wall outlet. Wait at least 60 seconds, then reconnect and power on. This clears residual memory.

 

Check Cartridge Access Area 
Open the cartridge access door and inspect the carriage. 

Ensure there are no obstructions, protective tapes, or debris. 

Reinsert the cartridges firmly until they click into place.

 

Align the Printer 
In the HP App, select Printer SettingsMaintenanceAlign Printhead

This ensures the printer recognizes the cartridges correctly.

 

If the error persists after these steps, it may indicate a hardware issue with the cartridge carriage or sensor system.
