I bought a 61xl remafactured Ink Cartridge that's NOT made my HP on my HP Deskjet 2540 all-in-one printer. after i installed the cartridge from my printer, i see a (look like drop) blinking and the light is orange. when i tried to print on my PC, the pop up shows saying:
----------------------------------------------------------------
INK CARTIDGE FAILURE
--TriColor      --Black

the ink cartridge above are damaged or failed.
replace them with a new cartridge.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
i was confuse because my cartridge was new and arrived with no damage.
i tried to reset it i press the power button and the cancel buttons and i waited a few second. suddenly the paper was print and the (look like drop) was not blinking but the (look like drop) just lit up
but after that, the paper was so clean and there was nothing printer on the paper and sometime the paper will result a buch of black dot and the (look like drop) starts blinking again.

i trid every solution fro
-cleaning the chips (copper contacts to the cartridge)

-checking if there is any protector type
and even trying pluging out the printer

but nothing worked.

Hi @Ken0712,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that you have an issue using non-HP ink cartridges on your printer.

Please follow the steps below to fix the issue.

A) Perform a power drain

1) Take out the cartridges

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges

B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.

C) If the issue still persists, refer to this link for more information related to using non-HP ink cartridges.

If you are using generic or Non HP ink cartridges and the above steps do not help. You will have to contact the generic ink cartridge manufacturer to assist you further with it or you will have to use genuine HP ink cartridges to resume printing.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a great day ahead!
