After receiving my very first ink replacement and installing the ink as directed, I haven't been able to print. The printer works but just a blank page comes out. I have no error messages. I've tried taking the ink out and putting it back in but it doesn't fix anything.

Hi @CellaSour,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your printer accepts the new ink cartridges and feeds paper, but prints completely blank pages with no error messages. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check for protective tape on the cartridges

Remove the ink cartridges again and inspect them closely.

Make sure all orange plastic and clear protective tape have been fully removed, including from the ink nozzles and vents.

Any remaining tape will prevent ink from flowing.

Reseat the cartridges firmly

With the printer powered on, remove both cartridges.

Reinsert each cartridge until it clicks securely into place.

Close the ink access door and allow the printer to initialize.

Print a printer self-test or diagnostic page

Use the printer’s control panel or HP Smart app to print a Print Quality Report/Self-Test Page.

If this page is also blank, the issue is at the ink delivery or printhead level, not the computer.

Run cartridge or printhead cleaning

Open HP Smart → Printer Maintenance/Tools.

Run Clean Cartridges / Clean Printhead once.

Print a test page and, if needed, run a second cleaning (avoid more than 2–3 cleanings in a row).

Check cartridge venting

Remove the cartridge and look for the small air vent near the top.

Ensure it is not blocked by tape, glue residue, or packaging material, as blocked vents stop ink flow.

Align the cartridges

From HP Smart or the printer menu, run Align Cartridges.

Alignment helps initiate ink flow after a cartridge replacement.

Power reset the printer

With the printer on, unplug the power cord from the rear of the printer.

Wait 60 seconds, plug it back in, and turn the printer on.

This clears initialization issues after cartridge changes.

I hope this helps.
