Hi @Lee551,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

I understand you want to turn off "Ink Cartridge Protection" Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to the issue.

To turn off Ink Cartridge Protection on your HP ENVY Inspire 7900e series printer, follow these steps:

Access Printer Settings:

  • On the printer’s control panel, tap on the Wireless icon and go to Setup or the Settings menu.
  • Alternatively, if you're using HP Smart on your computer, you can manage settings through the app.

Disable Cartridge Protection:

  • In the Settings or Preferences section, find the option labeled Ink Cartridge Protection or HP Cartridge Protection.
  • This setting is usually enabled by default to prevent the use of non-HP or refilled cartridges. If it’s turned on, disable it by switching the option to Off.

Confirm and Save:

  • After turning it off, confirm your choice and save the settings. You may need to restart the printer for changes to take effect.

If you're using HP Smart:

  • Open the app, select your printer, then navigate to Printer Settings > Advanced Settings > Cartridge Protection, and turn it off from there.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
