HP DeskJet 2755e All-in-One Printer

Printer has orange flashing light and "E" with  the diagram of an ink cartridge.  It will recognize the old empty cartridge, but not the new cartridge.

Hi @Prendy,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure that the ink cartridge is correctly installed in the printer. It should snap into place securely. Compare its placement with the old cartridge to ensure it is properly seated.

Verify Cartridge Compatibility:

  • Make sure the new ink cartridge is compatible with your HP 2755E printer. Check the cartridge number against the printer's specifications.

Remove Protective Tape:

  • Double-check that any protective tape or plastic covering on the cartridge has been completely removed. The electrical contacts should be exposed.

Clean Cartridge Contacts:

  • Use a lint-free cloth to gently clean the gold-colored electrical contacts on the cartridge and the corresponding contacts inside the printer. Dust or debris can prevent recognition.

Reset the Printer:

  • Power off the printer, unplug it, wait for a minute, and then plug it back in and turn it back on. Retry installing the cartridge.

Check Cartridge Status:

  • You can use the printer's control panel to confirm the ink levels or check the ink cartridge status through the HP Smart app or software installed on your computer.

Try Another Cartridge:

  • If possible, try using another new cartridge to determine whether the issue lies with the cartridge itself.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensuring your printer has the latest firmware can sometimes solve compatibility issues. Check and download updates from the HP website.

I hope this helps.
