installed OEM cartridges (9962XL) in my OfficeJet Pro 9010 and am getting an error that the cartridges are rejected. On the side of the cartridges is a message that the cartridges are not compatible with 'e' series printers joined to the smart printing system. Is there some way to get around this error (possibly turning off some setting)? These cartridges are from a 4 pack, only 2 of the cartridges are rejected, 2 are accepted!

@SRU3, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Here are some steps you can try:

Verify Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the cartridges you purchased are specifically listed as compatible with the OfficeJet Pro 9010 printer series (not just the non-'e' variants). The cartridges for 'e' series printers might have different model numbers.

Check Printer Firmware: Occasionally, firmware updates from HP can change cartridge compatibility settings. Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date, and check if there's an official announcement about any changes pertaining to cartridge use.

Install Cartridges Correctly:

  • Open the cartridge door and remove the cartridges.
  • Reinstall them by sliding each cartridge into the slot until it clicks into place. Ensure that the color codes match.

Use Genuine HP Cartridges: If the cartridges are not genuine HP products, the printer may reject them. Non-HP cartridges or refilled cartridges can also sometimes face compatibility issues.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
