HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I own an HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 All-in-1 printer.  When I shop for ink cartridges at HP.com; Amazon or locally, the cartridges sold for this printer are HP962.  However, these will not be accepted by the printer. (Note, it's not the first time I have purchased replacement cartridges.) The printer specs now say I require HP964 ink cartridges for this same printer because of region. Whatever this region thing is....I spent $120 and cannot use the HP962 ink cartridges.  Same printer...same ink...same cartridge (except for the number).  The ONLY difference is the price.  The HP964 ink catridges much more expensive than the HP962 ink cartridges (when you can find them).  WHY am I being forced to purchase one item over another when they are the same product???  And trying to get someone to assist with changing region (which is ridiculous to have to do) is pure frustration.  I went back and forth for weeks with no resolution.  As if life isn't busy and stressful enough.  I am definitely left with the feeing that $$ is valued far above customer loyalty and satisfaction.  As a customer I do have a choice.  My choice is to go elsewhere and purchase a different brand printer.  I really like my printer - the recent ink cartridge issue has been the only problem.  In the long run; it's more feasible and cost saving for me to make this move.

What is the number on the cartridges you were replacing?  Where are you located?  If you are in the US (as indicated in your profile) and the original cartridges were HP 964 you will need to Contact HP to request a "Regionalization Reset". There should not be any charge for this, it is covered as part of the cartridge warranty. You will need to have access to your computer and printer while on the line with HP. You will also need to have a set of cartridges for the new region, once the reset is complete cartridges from the original region will no longer work.  HP's web page on the subject is here.
