HP OfficeJet Pro 8139e All-in-One Printer

I purchased my HP Officejet Pro 8139e in February 2024 & have had nothing but problems with it since. I have been on the phone with HP support too many times for a printer that is only a year old. From connection error messages to going offline to paper jams to instant ink. The BIG problem now is that I cancelled my Instant Ink subscription on 6-13-2025, my month ended on 6-14-2025 & today 6-15-2025 I tried to print but it won't let me. I get a message that the instant ink is missing. Yes, it is because I purchased & installed ink that I purchased compatible with my printer. It still wouldn't print. I tried removing my printer from my HP account but then I get a message that it can't be removed until my instant ink subscription is cancelled. Well, that was cancelled. I received the email saying it was cancelled. Still can't print. Not sure what the problem is with HP, but their service has gone way downhill. Before I bought this printer, I owned an HP printer for at least 10 years & never had any problems with it other than it deciding to die on me. I will never ever buy another HP printer.

@Tina_63, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Instant Ink Subscription and Printing Errors!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like you are experiencing issues related to cancelling your Instant Ink subscription and continuing to use your printer after the subscription ended. When you cancel your Instant Ink subscription, you can continue printing with Instant Ink supplies until the end of your current billing cycle. After the billing cycle ends, you will need to replace the Instant Ink cartridges with regular HP cartridges that you can purchase from any retailer.

Steps to Resolve the Issue:

Replace Instant Ink Cartridges: Remove all Instant Ink cartridges from your HP Officejet Pro 8139e printer. Instant Ink cartridges only work while the printer is enrolled in the Instant Ink program. Acquire Original HP Ink cartridges from a retailer and install them in your printer.

Check Printer Status and Functionality:

  • Restart your Printer: Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 60 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on. This may help resolve temporary connectivity or offline issues.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for updates through your printer’s control panel or download updates directly from the HP Support website.

HP Support Assistance:

  • If you are still facing issues after replacing the ink cartridges and updating firmware, you may need additional support from HP.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
