We bought this printer a little less than a year ago and all of a sudden the blue ink stopped working. All of the other colors are fine, made sure the ink was full and it still is just not working. Got a cleaning kit and tried that, still not luck. What am I doing wrong?

@HelplessinSeatt, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Check for Blockages:

  • Remove the ink cartridge.
  • Check if there’s any visible blockage in the printhead or ink nozzle.
  • Gently clean the printhead with a soft, lint-free cloth and warm water.

Check Ink Cartridge:

  • Remove and reinstall the blue ink cartridge to make sure it’s properly seated.
  • If the ink cartridge is near its expiration or damaged, consider replacing it with a new one.

Perform a Printer Head Cleaning (Refer the user manual for specific steps):

  • On your printer, go to the Settings or Printer Maintenance menu.
  • Select Clean Printhead or Printhead Cleaning.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions.

Run a Diagnostic Test:

  • Go to the Printer Settings and find Print Quality Diagnostics or Ink Cartridge Status.
  • This test will show if the blue ink is being recognized and if there’s any issue with the cartridge or printhead.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Sometimes, a firmware update can resolve printer issues. Check the printer’s website or the HP Smart app for any available updates.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug it for about 5 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on again.
