I have had a couple of issues that have started to occur now that my Printer has just gone a month out of warranty.
The list of issues and attempts of solution I have tried so far are;
1). The Offical PhotoPaper that is supplied by HP is Grainy
My attempts at a solution for this, was that I ensured that the size and correct Paper style settings were selected prior to printing, however, the photo still came out very grainy, the picture is seeable, however, you can see individual 'ink dots' and does not look smooth what so ever. I have also attempted to print in other settings but again it is still the same grainy quality.
2). The back of the Offical PhotoPaper is smudged. The side that should be clear of any ink, looks very disgusting. However when printing on paper, the back of the paper comes out relatively clean. Dirty sometimes, but normally clean.
My attempts at a solution for this was that I ran a Print Quality Diagnostic test, on Test pattern 2, there were thin white lines, therefore I ordered the printer to clean its printheads and that test paper came back clear. On the back but bottom of that test paper, black smudge is visible which shows that the smudge still occurs after this 'cleaning'.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Does it only happen with photo paper? Do the copies come out fine?
Try a firmware update: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16
