Does "Fast Normal" 300dpi use less ink than  "Normal" 600dpi?   I am printing text on plain paper in bulk and "Fast Normal" appears to be darker or maybe more bold than in "Normal" mode.

HP Officejet 5610 All-in-One.

Thanks.

Hi @PrivateEyeCAN,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

In general, printing in "Fast Normal" mode at 300 dpi may use less ink than printing in "Normal" mode at 600 dpi. This is because "Fast Normal" mode typically uses less ink and prints faster by sacrificing some print quality compared to "Normal" mode.

The difference in boldness or darkness you're observing could be due to the way the printer renders the text at different resolutions and print modes. "Fast Normal" mode may apply more ink to create a bolder appearance, even though it's using less ink overall compared to "Normal" mode at 600 dpi.

If your main concern is to save ink while maintaining acceptable print quality for text documents, "Fast Normal" mode at 300 dpi is a good choice. However, you may want to do a comparison with a small sample print to confirm the ink usage and print quality before printing in bulk.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
