So I have to print off documents and the printer recognized the cartages at first and printed the info and test pages just fine but literally right after I got the flashing light and empty cartages indicator. I've tried everything from resetting to cleaning and even using brand new cartages.

Hi @chrispyashyness

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If you are experiencing issues with your HP DeskJet 3772 All-in-One Printer where the printer recognizes the cartridges initially but then shows a flashing light and an empty cartridges indicator, here are the steps you can follow to resolve the problem:

Step 1: Check Cartridge Installation

  1. Turn off the Printer: Press the power button to turn off the printer.
  2. Open Cartridge Access Door: Lift the cartridge access door.
  3. Verify Placement: Ensure that the cartridges are properly seated in their respective slots and that no protective tape remains on the new cartridges.

Step 2: Clean Cartridge Contacts

  1. Turn off the Printer: Ensure the printer is turned off and the power cord is unplugged.
  2. Remove Cartridges: Open the cartridge access door and remove the cartridges.
  3. Clean Contacts: Gently clean the cartridge contacts and the corresponding printer contacts using a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water.
  4. Reinsert Cartridges: After cleaning, reinsert the cartridges into their slots correctly.

Step 3: Reset the Printer

  1. Turn off and Unplug: Turn off the printer and unplug its power cord from the back and the wall outlet.
  2. Wait: Wait for about 60 seconds.
  3. Replug and Turn On: Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall outlet, then turn on the printer.

Step 4: Use Genuine HP Cartridges

  1. Check Cartridge Compatibility: Make sure you are using genuine HP cartridges that are compatible with your HP DeskJet 3772 printer model.
  2. Replace with New Cartridges: If available, install brand new HP cartridges to rule out any issues with the cartridges themselves.

Step 5: Update Printer Firmware

  1. Check Firmware Version: Ensure your printer's firmware is updated to the latest version. Sometimes issues are resolved with firmware updates.
  2. Visit HP Support: You can download and install the latest firmware from the HP support website.
