HP Envy 4520 ink cartridge carriage is stuck on right. No obstruction. Unplugged power when turned on but still doesn’t move when I try to manually slide the printer to the left.

Hi @4-Amigos,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Envy 4520's ink cartridge carriage might be encountering an internal issue. Since you've already tried unplugging the power and attempting to manually slide the carriage without success, here are a few additional troubleshooting steps you can try.
Check for Mechanical Issues: Gently try to move the carriage to the left. If it's stiff, do not force it too much. Sometimes internal gears can become stuck due to a lack of lubrication or other mechanical failure.
Reset the Printer:
- Unplug the printer from the power source and wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and then turn it on. Try to see if the carriage moves freely once powered on.
Perform a Printer Reset:
- With the printer powered on, unplug the power cable from both the wall socket and the printer.
- Wait about 60 seconds, then plug the power cable back into the printer, followed by the wall socket, and turn the printer on.
Inspect the Ink Cartridge Area: Even though you mention no visible obstruction, it’s a good idea to check closely inside the cartridge area for any small debris or particles that might be hindering the carriage’s movement. Sometimes dust or tiny pieces of paper can get lodged inside.
Error Codes: If there are any visible error codes or messages on the display (or if it beeps in a particular pattern), it could be helpful in diagnosing the specific issue.
Check for Motor Failure: If the carriage still doesn’t move, there could be an issue with the motor that controls the carriage.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
