HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer - N911g

Hi all, I purchased ink for my printer online.  I bought one of those XL products instead of HP because of the price. Which I regret now.  Anyway, my printer is saying that the yellow cartridge is damaged.  It is the cartridge I had replaced with the generic one (yellow). So, I purchased HP ink and put in the new one and it is still saying the cartridge is damaged.  I know it's not the cartridge but maybe my intake of the ink for that cartridge.  What should I do?

Thanks for any suggestions..

Hi @Nonipye54,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query!

I understand you're experiencing issues with your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus printer concerning the ink cartridge

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Printer Reset: Try resetting the printer. Turn it off, disconnect the power cord, and wait approximately one minute. Then reconnect the power and turn the printer back on.

Cleaning Printhead Contacts: Ensure that the contacts on the printhead and the corresponding cartridge interfaces are clean and free of debris. Using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water can help clean these contacts gently.

Firmware Update: Make sure your printer firmware is updated to the latest version. HP frequently provides updates that optimize printer performance and compatibility with ink cartridges.

Reinstalling Ink Cartridges: Remove all ink cartridges and then reinstall them. Make sure each cartridge clicks into place securely.

Printhead Maintenance: If the issue persists, consider performing a printhead cleaning procedure. This can be done through the printer's maintenance settings.

I hope this helps.

I have reset it several times, but no help so far.  I tried to do the printhead cleaning but the error just keeps coming up therefore it will not proceed with any action except the error message.  As far as cleaning with the damp cloth, the area is so hard to get to.  I'm not sure I can get my hand in there to wipe it.  I have taken all the cartridges out but the area is so tight.
