HP envy 6055

I removed empty ink cartridges from my printer, came home to replace them and got an E3 error. The thing inside the printer that holds the cartridges is jammed or something. There’s a black plastic part blocking the entire mechanism from moving. I’ve tried everything, I cannot contact hp support over the phone because my warranty is expired. This printer worked complete fine beforehand. I’ll try any solution

Hi @CheriSerrano,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The E3 error on an HP Envy 6055 printer indicates a paper jam or a carriage jam. The carriage is part of the printer that holds the ink cartridges and moves back and forth to distribute ink onto the paper. If the carriage is jammed, it won't be able to move, which can cause an E3 error.

Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve the issue.

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Check for any paper jams in the printer. Open the printer cover and remove any paper that is stuck inside.
  • Make sure the carriage can move freely. Gently move it back and forth with your hand to see if it is stuck.
  • Check the ink cartridges to make sure they are installed correctly. If they are not, remove them and reinstall them properly.
  • Turn the printer back on and see if the error has been resolved.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Yes this actually helped. I unplugged the cord from the wall and when I turned the printer back in the black plastic thing moved back down. It was still stuck but I was able to push it where it was supposed to be and it works now. Thank you for the help
