Hi @Keissa,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Dealing with a leaked ink cartridge can be messy and frustrating, but it's important to address it properly to prevent further damage to your printer. Here's a step-by-step guide to cleaning and possibly dismantling your HP Officejet 6700 Premium printer.
- Turn off the printer: Before you start handling any internal components, make sure the printer is powered off and unplugged from the electrical outlet to avoid any electrical hazards.
- Remove the ink cartridge: Open the printer cover and carefully remove the leaking ink cartridge. Be cautious not to spread the ink further.
- Clean the printer exterior: Use a soft, lint-free cloth dampened with water to gently wipe away any ink that has leaked onto the exterior of the printer. Avoid using excessive force to prevent damaging the printer's surface.
- Inspect the cartridge compartment: Check inside the cartridge compartment for any pooled ink or residue. If there's any ink present, use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water to carefully wipe it away. Take care not to leave any fibers behind.
- Clean the printhead area: The printhead area is where the ink cartridges make contact with the printer. Use a clean, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water to gently wipe away any ink residue. Be careful not to touch the electrical contacts or nozzles to avoid damaging them.
- Inspect for damage: While you have the cartridge removed, inspect it for any signs of damage or defects. If the cartridge is damaged, it may need to be replaced.
- Check for obstructions: Look for any debris or obstructions in the cartridge compartment or printhead area. Use compressed air or a soft brush to carefully remove any debris that you find.
- Reinstall the ink cartridge: Once you've cleaned the printer and inspected for damage, carefully reinstall the ink cartridge back into its respective slot. Make sure it's securely seated.
- Power on the printer: Plug the printer back into the power source and turn it on. Wait for the printer to initialize and see if the cartridge error message persists.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
