Hi @Jay0015,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're encountering a persistent issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 related to the ink cartridges. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the "supply system problem" error.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off your printer using the power button. If it doesn't turn off, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet and wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet, reconnect it to the printer, and turn the printer back on.
Check and Clean Cartridge Vents:
- Open the printer lid and wait for the cartridge carriage to stop moving.
- Remove each ink cartridge and check for any tape or adhesive that may be blocking the vent. Clean the vent with a pin or paper clip to ensure there's no debris obstructing it.
Reseat the Ink Cartridges:
- After cleaning the vents, reseat the cartridges back into their respective slots, ensuring they click into place properly. Sometimes, a loose cartridge can trigger error messages.
Try Different Cartridges:
- If you have access to another set of cartridges (preferably genuine HP cartridges), try replacing the current cartridges with these. Sometimes, a specific cartridge may be faulty, even if it's new.
Replace the Printhead:
- If the problem persists, you might need to check if your printer has a removable printhead. If it does, reseat the printhead carefully. If reseating does not help, you may need to consider replacing the printhead.
These steps should help you troubleshoot the issue with your OfficeJet Pro 8720.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
