HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer

Received the notice on my printer to replace the Blue (Cyan) color cartridge.  Replaced it with the HP cartridge and now the printer shows that there is a problem with the printer cartridge. it is a new cartridge, and the ink level still shows empty and the printer will not work.

Hi @BrendawBM

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like your printer is not recognizing the new Cyan (Blue) cartridge despite it being new. There are a few troubleshooting steps you can follow to resolve this issue:

1. Check the Cartridge Installation

  • Ensure that the Cyan cartridge is properly installed. Sometimes the cartridge might not be seated correctly, preventing the printer from recognizing it.
  • Remove the cartridge and carefully reinstall it, ensuring it clicks into place.
  • Double-check that the protective tape on the cartridge has been removed. New ink cartridges usually come with a protective plastic strip to prevent ink from leaking out during shipping.

2. Restart the Printer

  • Turn the printer off and unplug it from the power source for about 30 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  • Sometimes a simple restart can help reset the printer's connection with the cartridge and resolve recognition issues.

3. Check for Printer Firmware Updates

  • Go to the HP website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model.
  • Sometimes, a firmware update can fix bugs related to cartridge recognition.
