Hi @22A55B,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with the new cartridge not working on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9012e All-in-One Printer, try the following troubleshooting steps:
May I know
1. Since when are you facing this issue
2. Have you made any changes on your printer post that this issue raised and have you observed any light blinking on the display and error code
3. May I know if you are using genuine cartridges
4. Could you please elaborate on the issue?
Check Cartridge Installation:
- Ensure the new cartridge is correctly installed. Remove and reinstall it to make sure it's seated properly.
- Double-check that you've removed all protective tape or plastic covering the cartridge before installing it.
Check Compatibility:
- Confirm that the new cartridge is compatible with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9012e. Use only genuine HP cartridges to avoid compatibility issues.
Restart Printer and Computer:
- Turn off the printer, wait for a minute, and then turn it back on.
- Also, restart your computer to ensure there are no software-related issues.
Check for Error Messages:
- Look for any error messages on the printer's display. If there's an error related to the cartridge, follow the on-screen instructions.
Clean Cartridge Contacts:
- Power off the printer, remove the cartridge, and gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth or cotton swab.
Perform a Printer Reset:
- Unplug the printer from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, and then plug it back in. This can sometimes resolve issues with cartridge recognition.
Update Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Check if there’s a firmware update available for your printer. Sometimes, updates can resolve compatibility issues with new cartridges. You can check for updates via the HP Smart app or the printer's web interface.
Try Another Cartridge:
- If possible, try another new cartridge to rule out the possibility of a faulty one.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
